Foundations workshop in Central Europe?

Hi, I am pretty new to the game and looking for opportunities to get the fundamentals in a compact and structured way. I found this 2 day Seminar by Munich MMA. They call it BJJ Base Camp. I am inclined to go there but thought I might find another one easier to reach or fit in my schedule. Do you know of any similar offers in Germany, Switzerland or Central Europe? How do you call your beginner/foundation classes and workshops? https://munich-mma.de/ang[...]asic-camp/ |
This looks like a fairly unique camp, in my experience. Might be worth checking out. I'm not sure you'll find something like this any closer to where you live. Does your gym not have some sort of structured program for beginners? I would say this is something fairly common, and probably close to all of us on here have been through similar programs and have still eventually gotten the knack for it somehow. Personally, I teach very positionally when I work with beginners. That way they're not trying to digest the entire fight scenario all at once, every time. I love working with beginners, but if Munich seems far away, then my place is gonna be even farther. One helpful resource I recommend to all my beginners is "5 Rules for White Belts," a short book by Chris Matakas. It will definitely give you a good blueprint to work from, and you could probably read it in one day. |
Hey Bobby, Thanks for your reply. The gym I started at last year has a good vibe and it seemed like the only one nearby that offers morning classes, which were my main criteria for picking it. So far, I don't see a structured approach, which is why I resorted to asking questions frequently... What you say about teaching beginners makes sense to me. I booked the Munich camp for April. I guess I just needed a tad more encouragement. Thanks for providing that and the book recommendation, too. I gonna check it out. |
